SUNY Geneseo invites applications for a Manager of Editorial Services (MES) in the department of Communications and Publications. The MES serves as chief writer for and managing editor of the Geneseo Scene, the College's alumni magazine and premier publication mailed to more than 52,000 alumni and friends, and ENCompass, the weekly electronic newsletter for faculty and staff. This person will interact with a broad range of constituents to produce compelling and informative writing for College publications as well as public, media and community relations activities; advertising/marketing/ promotion projects; and alumni and development initiatives. The position reports to the assistant vice president for communications.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding writing, editing, interviewing and interpersonal communication skills. He/she will have a record of writing and editing that shows strong command of and artistry with the language.

Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or related field, with five -to-seven years professional writing experience, to include a minimum three years of direct editing responsibility for a major publication. Master's degree preferred.

The selected candidate will be an enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player with demonstrated creativity, outstanding relationship-building skills, and the proven ability to set priorities and achieve goals while managing multiple tasks as part of a larger team.
